We wanted to take a quick moment to shoutout one of our members, Robin Spiotto.
Robin has spent over a decade behind the lens as a professional photographer, capturing the essence of her subjects in every shot. Her passion lies in portrait photography, where she thrives on the unique connection she builds with each person, revealing their authentic stories through her art.
Robin was kind enough to answer a few questions regarding her career.

How did you get your start in photography?
Like most family portrait photographers, I began my journey when my own children were tiny. My husband bought me a Canon Rebel and I would take it everywhere I went taking photos of my children as well as the children in our playgroup. I got better and better with composition and catching "that moment". One day, my dear friend, Ronni pulled me aside and told me, "You're really good at this, you know. You need to pursue this as a career." I went back to school to learn photography officially, and here I am nearly 14 years later!

What is your favorite thing to take photos of?
I love portraits of all kinds, but I mostly love working with kiddos (the sillier the better). I also love working with high school seniors. This is such an amazing part of their lives, I love to celebrate with them!

What's your favorite part of the process?
I love the actual photo shoot. Connecting with other humans and showing them how beautiful they are means so much to me. Annie Liebovitz once said, "A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people." I totally feel that way! When you can make authentic connections with others, that shows through into their gallery.

What's the best advice you can give to aspiring photographers?
Learn to shoot in manual mode- you'll find that you have control over your images that is unmatched. Always keep learning- the industry is always evolving. Photoshoots can be super stressful for clients- work with them to make their time with you as stress-free and fun (and as memorable as possible) - when they see their gallery, you want them to remember the FUN they had that day, not how stressed out they were. Don't give up- there are a million photographers around, but YOU are the only one that has YOUR vision. There's room for all of us!

How have you been able to utilize the studio in your business?
I am ecstatic to have found Round Rock Studio and to have become a member! Some clients have visions of creamy sunsets - but some want clean lines and predictable light (and climate control!!). That's where the studio shines, and it's SUCH a versatile space. I love it- obsessed with the black wall.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Round Rock?
Hoody's Subs. Their Philly Cheesesteak is ridiculous.
